Laser cutting machine creates bevels

The new Bevel Cut Edition of the Series 3000 laser cutting machines from Trumpf makes the usual downstream process of welding edge preparation superfluous. In addition to classic V and Y edges, the system can also handle complex bevel shapes.

High Laser Damage Threshold Ultrafast Mirrors

PeakPower High LDT Low GDD Ultrafast Mirrors from Edmund Optics have the highest available laser damage threshold (LDT) for thin film coatings designed for 920 nm ultrafast lasers, with LDT values exceeding 0,75J/ cm² for 25fs pulse durations at 920 nm. They won the Platinum-Level 2024 Laser Focus World (LFW) Innovators Award.

Junior researcher: laser sheds light into darkness of the primordial soup

A new junior research group at the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology will conduct interdisciplinary research into the origin of life on Earth. The basis will be ultra-fast pump-probe spectroscopy, which will be used to decipher photochemical processes.
